You asked where to start, so I picked 260 videos
On this page
Feedback started trickling in after launch. Feature requests, bug reports — and one line that kept nagging me.
“What should I start with?”
Picking videos is studying too
Dollim is a looping app. The feature works fine, but using it needs a video worth hearing first. Hunting YouTube yourself means sifting past missing captions, wrong auto-generated ones, and clips too hard or too easy — exhausting before studying starts.
It hit me: however good the looping is, to someone with nothing to hear it is just an empty tool.
Only videos with solid captions
So I started curating. One rule: the creator put human-written captions on it.
YouTube auto captions slur sounds and fumble fast stretches, and wrong material memorized wrong is worse than none. I filtered down to captioned channels across talk shows, interviews, lesson formats, and talks.
It now runs over 260 videos across English, Japanese, Korean, Italian, and Spanish. The same list shows on Dollim’s home screen.

It started as just a looping app
Honestly I never planned this far. An app born from missing Netflix lines only had to please me.
But using it kept adding pieces. Caption translation, 0.5× with pitch kept, word-list saving, shadowing recorded against the original, and now this curation. An app made to fix one person’s English now serves someone studying Italian and someone starting Spanish.
Calling it a general language app is still premature — but one step closer.
On the mind, for later
Ideas sitting in my head, written down. Not promises to build them all.
Listening stats to see how much you heard, streaks to keep days chained, iCloud sync to share progress between iPhone and iPad.
Honestly some of these may be overkill. Plenty of users would rather see current screens polished than new features stacked. What matters and what comes first — the people using it know better than I do.
Thoughts welcome at support@hyunsanglabs.com. I read every one.
